Feb 25 - Update

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),

As February comes to end, we approach our final switch of delivery models. We have approximately 320 students returning to in-person learning and another 150 students opting to join virtual learning. Our total enrollment sits close to 5000 students.

There will be no switch day absent of school this time. All students leaving and joining, will switch locations to start on Monday, March 1.

We wish our students and families leaving us all the best back in a physical school environment.

There will be no other changes required to classes or teachers for the switch reorganization.

I’ve included some additional information below important for students and families

Regards,

Mr. Kaiser

Principal

Virtual School Elementary - East

Term 1 Report Cards

All students currently enrolled in Virtual East will be receiving a Term 1 report card (Gr 1 - 8) or FDK Communication of Learning on Monday, March 1. Students leaving on Monday will also receive their report from us. Being in virtual school is not without its challenges sometimes. We are working to overcome some technical challenges of emailing reports to all students. The switch day and Reports to be emailed occurring on the same day is presenting some unanticipated technical issues. Should it delay reports being available on Monday, parents will be notified. Otherwise, please expect Term 1 reports on Monday.

We will provide a link to request some assistance after reports have been sent. Please do not inquire with the school for assistance in advance of the form. You will need your child’s Ontario Education Number (OEN) to retrieve the report card which can be located from the November report.

Please be aware that there may be unique circumstances where not all subjects have to be taught enough or students have not participated well enough to determine an appropriate grade for a subject. In these instances, students may receive an “I” grade for “Insufficient evidence to assign a letter grade”.

For these reports, there will not be interviews/conferences automatically for all students. A parent and/or teacher may request an interview to be scheduled mutually between classroom teacher(s) and parent(s)/guardian(s).

Individual Education Plans (IEPs)

Parent(s)/guardian(s) of students who currently have an IEP should expect their Term 2 IEP to be (physically) mailed to them with Canada Post beginning on March 8th. Students leaving on March 1 will also receive a Term 2 IEP. Parent(s)/guardian(s) with students returning back to in-person who have an IEP are asked to consult with the in-person school to revise the Term 2 IEP to reflect the in-person learning environment.
