Oct 19 - Student Attendance

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),

We are continuing to refine our student attendance process to be closer to what is expected in a physical school.

Beginning on Tuesday, October 20th, parent(s)/guardian(s) will receive a phone call/email/text notifying you when your child has been recorded as absent during morning attendance.

To be marked present in the morning, students need to be logged into the Google Meet between 8:45 - 9:30 am AND have their camera turned on so the teacher can see that they are present. Students not arriving prior to attendance being submitted to the office in the morning will be marked absent.

For any child marked absent, the parent/guardian will receive an automated phone call/email/text beginning at 10:25 am letting you know that your child has been marked absent.

As parent(s)/guardian(s) have a duty of care while their child is in the virtual school, we are not conducting a safe arrival program like a physical school. If your child is absent from school, you do not need to respond to the phone call/email/text. It is for your notification only. If you believe the absence was in error, you may contact the school to have the absence corrected, otherwise, no action is required.

If your child is going to be absent from school, parent(s)/guardian(s) may let us know by recording the absence via phone: 1-877-409-6310, website: https://go.schoolmessenger.ca/ , or HDSB app (download from Google Play, Apple Store). Recording the absence in advance will prevent the attendance system from notifying you.
